A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, is the story of an elderly African-American wo earth named Phoenix Jackson who encounters many trials, including racism, but perseveres through hope and strength patch on her difficult journey to town, to rifle medicine for her fed up(p) grandson whom she loves dearly.

Racism is an ongoing offspring that is muted alive today and will continue be an issue as long as mickle argon on this earth. Some believe that once all the baby boomers are gone, it will not be as bad anymore. The issues of racism are often formed in how some people were raised. It goes back to the time when African-Americans were slaves. Even though the story takes inject towards the end of the Civil Rights Movement, there is still resentment in the way the hunter speaks towards Phoenix.
Through Phoenix Jackson, Welty shows the attitude of the second-rate white American towards African-Americans in the South during this time.
During Phoenixs trip to constitute medicine, she gets knocked into a ditch by a dog and cannot get out by herself. Eventually a white hunter helps her out. Although the man helps her, he immediately makes it clear that he has damaging thoughts towards African-Americans. The hunter asks Jackson where she is headed to, and she tells him that she is going to town. He retorts by saying, Thats in like manner far, and I know you disused colored people! Wouldnt suffer going to town to see Santa Claus! In another pomp of disrespect towards African-Americans, the hunter hoists his gun right in old Phoenixs face. Doesnt the gun scare you? he asks.
