Literary Analysis of The Yellow cover In The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, locate of view greatly affects the trading floors overall meaning. The reader would only see the woman as crazy if told from a different point of view. The reader would not understand things such as how the woman turned to the wallpaper as her means of expression after being denied expressing herself in any other way. Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote this story shortly after a nervous breakdown of her own. She was divorced twice and finally colonised with her third husband George Houghton.

Gilman may have used this point of view because she wanted readers to have more insight into how she and other women were oppressed during that time period. This point of view showed how the oppression contributed to the narrators nervous breakdown and may have contributed Gilmans own as well. If Gillman had used any other point of view, the reader wouldnt have understood the oppression women had at the time. The narrators husband, John, makes her stay in the room with the yellow wallpaper to help her get better. However, she is basically a prisoner in this room.
