Going to Mindo for the first time is a phenomenal encounter. The children there are innocent and happy all the of time. The finishice they bombard you with hugs that first day as you get get rid of the bus is overwhelming. I remember thinking to myself, Who is this little female child that has finished running up to me and giving me a commodious hug? Back in Miami, no one goes around giving random hugs to people. So, that little girl and the rest of the children caught me off guard. I thought it was so beautiful how a funny could go up to another stranger and just drag them in a hug without feeling uncomfortable. One sincere hug from that little girl made me realize that the world is good, and there are many good people in it that need help.
I knew from right then Mindo was not just going to be a one-time trip and my life would neer be the same.
During my stay in Mindo, I befriended some children at the orphanage. When they would talk about their families and tell me their stories of why they were there, I pitch myself getting angry at God. I didnt realize how God could let a child go through all that suffering. I later realized that everything happens for a solid ground and that I was sent to Mindo for a special reason. I was to be a friend to these children. I compulsioned make their lives better, correct if it was just for than one week I was in Mindo. I had a spiritual awakening.
