Carl, Jung

According to author, Anthony Storr, in the book The Essential Jung, Carl, Gustav Jung was born on July 26th 1875 and died on 6 June 1961. Jung was raised in Klein-Huningen, secure Basel, Switzerland, where is family moved when Jung was four years old. Jung started first grade at the age of six and went to college at the University of Basel from 1895-1900 where he studied practice of medicine (Storr.)
In the journal article by Finlay, titled enchant of Carl Jung and William James on the origin of alcoholic anonymous, Jungs fuss practiced and was a Protestant minister, in fact, Jung had many priests in the family. Finlay also states that Jungs ancestors were said to be gifted with terrible spiritual gifts and that Jung had a lasting attraction with spiritualism and the cryptic (Finlay 2000).
Jung was experienced mostly in the fields of philosophy and religion (Storr, 1983,13). By the time 1900 came, Jung then moved to Zurich where he became an friend to Eugen Bleuler at the Burgholzli Mental Hospital. Jung ultimately became the head of the mental hospital; his official title was Senior Staff Physician (Finlay 2000).



His sign working association with the experienced Sigmund Freud, begun around 1906, however failed as Jung became increasingly critical of Freuds persistence on the psychosexual origins of neuroses (Finlay 2000).
Jung eventually wrote his dissertation on The Psychology and Pathology of the so-called Occult Phenomena (Storr, 1983, 13). He also wrote A Review of the Complex Theory, Mental infirmity and the Psyche, Psychogenesis of Schizophrenia, Psychoanalysis and Neurosis, Stages of Life, Confrontation with the unconscious and many others (Finlay). Deciding to matter in psychiatry, Jung went to Zurich to work with Eugene Bleuler at the Burghölzli Mental Hospital (Finlay 2000). Bleuler is in the first place recognized for his common description of dementia praecox (which he ulterior characterized as schizophrenia), (Finlay 2000).
